ATsens exports wearable ECG monitors to Brazil.
ATsens and Pratixia(Pratixia Dermo Soluções Ltda.) in Brazil signed a contract to export and sell wearable ECG monitors worth at least US$4.5 million. AT-Patch, which is exported by ATsens, is the Korea's first long-term continuous ECG monitor that can be used for up to 11 days. Its contract partner, Pratixia, is a medical device distributor in Brazil. ATsens announced that it would expand its overseas sales in earnest.

미국은 2011년 아이리듬(iRhythm)사의 지오패치(Zio-XT) 제품이 최대 14일 장기 연속 홀터라는 새로운 제품을 내놓아 의료 분야 혁신. 약 10년 간 200만 건 이상 사용되며 심전도 검사의 새로운 기준으로 자리 잡아.
미국 지오패치의 상용화는 제품의 혁신성 외에도 제도적 뒷받침이 있어 가능. 제품이 출시된 같은 해 미국 건강보험 코드가 신설되어 진입 첫 단계부터 대중화를 위한 신속한 지원 이뤄져.
국내의 경우 최대 11일 장기 연속 사용이 가능한 에이티패치 제품이 출시되었으나 아직 제도적 기준이 마련되지 않아. 현재 심사 중으로 알려진 장기 연속 사용 홀터기록에 대한 요양급여 신설과 치료재료 인정 등 건강보험 지원 필요.

A new uninterrupted long-term cardiac monitor, AT-Patch has emerged that goes beyond the limits of 24-hour Holter monitors in Korea. AT-Patch reflected the clinical needs for long-term continuous use due to the characteristics of intermittent arrhythmia symptoms. AT-Patch is expected to reduce social medical costs as a result of increasing the possibility of arrhythmia detection.
In the US, a 14-day uninterrupted cardiac monitor, Zio Patch had been commercialized in 2011 and the test using the monitor had become part of government insurance coverage in the same year. As a result, Zio Patch was used more than 2 million times and became a new standard for the ECG test.
In Korea, an 11-day uninterrupted cardiac monitor, AT-Patch was released this year. But Korea Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service has not yet completed its review of the insurance coverage of long-term continuous monitoring. Institutional support for this innovative medical device should be made as soon as possible to promote public health.

Heart disease is the second-largest cause of death in Korea.
Early diagnosis and rapid treatment of arrhythmia are important to prevent complications and sudden cardiac death caused by heart problems. Conventional 12-lead electrocardiogram tests lasting for only one minute are virtually difficult to detect arrhythmia. The additional 24-hour Holter monitoring cannot detect arrhythmia if any abnormal symptoms do not occur during the test period. According to an American clinical study, there is only a 28.7% chance of arrhythmia detection during a 24-hour test. The same study shows an over 96% chance of arrhythmia detection during a 10-day test. In Korea, a wearable ECG device that can conduct long-term ECG tests for up to 11 days has been released. Given the limitations of existing test methods and the increasing number of heart disease patients, the uninterrupted long-term cardiac monitor needs to be introduced quickly to the medical field in Korea.
